John Fluke Jr., Independent Director

John Fluke has been the Chairman of Fluke Venture Partners since 1990. Previously, John served as the CEO and chairman of the Fluke Corporation. John serves as an independent director of PACCAR Inc (1984-present – maker of DAF, Kenworth and Peterbilt heavy duty trucks) and CellCyte Genetics Corporation (2007-present – cell expansion device maker). John serves on the boards of several private companies: MaestroSoft, Inc. (1999-present) charitable event management software maker) and is Chairman of Precision Genome Engineering, Inc. (2011-present -maker of “Genome Scissors” – a proprietary technology used by biotech research laboratories in DNA engineer to implement human therapies and disease resistant or higher productivity plants and animals) and the advisory board of Pacific Renewable Fuels (2007-present – maker of agri-waste to diesel fuel conversion systems).
He also previously served on the boards of Abacast, Inc. (2003-2010), American Seafoods Group (2002-2006), PRIMUS International (2003-2006), was an independent director of Tully’s Coffee Corporation (2005-2011), and Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (2002-2005), Peoples National Bank (1984-1987) and US Bank of Washington (1987-1997).
John is a trustee (1982-present) and past chairman of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the University of Washington Foster School of Business Advisory Board (1996-present), the University of Washington Applied Physics Laboratory Advisory Board (since 1992), the Pacific Museum of Flight (1988 – present), and the Junior Achievement of Washington board (1998 – present).
Mr. Fluke received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington and his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
Sanjay Chheda, Investor Representing Director
Vice President of Business Development, Intellectual Ventures
Sanjay Chheda leads strategic business development for new ventures in the emerging “invention capital” space which Intellectual Ventures has pioneered.
Sanjay worked at Microsoft Corporation for 18 years in various capacities including product management, product planning, corporate development, and sales management. From 1999 to 2004, he was Managing Director in Microsoft’s Corporate Development Group with responsibility for acquisitions, strategic investments and new ventures. In his final position at Microsoft, Sanjay served as Regional Vice President of Microsoft’s Consumer & Online business for the Greater Asia Pacific Region. Before joining Microsoft, he worked in the investment banking group of Salomon Brothers Inc.
Sanjay serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the School of Public Health at the University of Washington. He holds a MBA from Stanford University, as well as a BSc in economics and computer science from the University of Pennsylvania.
Paul Wiegand, Director
Paul Wiegand recently retired as Senior Vice President, Energy Operations from Puget Sound Energy after a 38 year career with the investor-owned utility.
Paul joined PSE in 1977 and held a number of key management positions in the areas of Project Development, Corporate Planning, Performance Measurement, Energy Risk Management, Strategic Planning, Information Technology, Corporate Projects, Customer Services, Internal Auditing, budgeting, reorganization and merger negotiations and integration. His most recent roles were Senior Vice President, Power Generation and Senior Vice President, Energy Operations where Paul directed PSE’s natural gas supply, transportation and storage activities, energy-trading operation, energy-supply contacts and electric-generation operations, including wind, thermal and hydro.
Paul has served as a member of the Executive Council of the Washington State University School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, is a past Chairman of the Board of Junior Achievement of Washington, and has served on the boards of the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club, Central Washington Resource Energy Collaborative, the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, and the Puget Sound Energy Foundation. He continues to serve as a team leader and consultant for the Community Accountability Board of the King County Juvenile Court and is treasurer of the Bellevue Quality Schools committee.
Paul has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Washington State University, is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Internal Auditor and completed the University of Washington Graduate School of Business Administration Management Program.
